Sunshine
50X50cm, Acrylic on Linen, frames in Australian Blackwood
There is so much emotion – and meaning – behind a bunch of flowers. God’s precious gift, each shade of colour designed uniquely and applied to each delicate petal, intricately and elegantly formed to bring joy to the beholder. Vibrant little splashes of colour that bring light to the darkest of landscapes.
A collection of such vibrant colours in the form of a bouquet is a reflection of the thoughtfulness of their Creator – they have been collected to bring hope, restoration, joy to the one they were designed for. A wedding bouquet in particular has special meaning – hope for a brightly-coloured future that mirrors the vibrant array of delicate petals and foliage clutched to the full heart, overflowing with dreams of what lies ahead. The fresh blooms symbolise new beginnings, as the couple begin their life united as one.
Sunflowers hold a special place in my heart. Those vibrant yellow petals bring a warmth to my soul, seeping into my whole being as if enveloped in sunshine. Constantly turning their faces to their source of light and life, they are forever looking upward. They remind me to do the same.
A bouquet full of sunshine, with the familiar gum leaves of home and the red roses of our love, this wedding bouquet represented new beginnings of a life together. Neither of us could have expected the darkness of the storms that were to come, but I have always been reminded to keep looking upward. The Sun has always been there, filling my heart with warmth, helping me to see the light in the darkness, the colour in the dark landscape. Giving me strength and hope when I need it most. Unlike the sun the sunflowers look to, mine never fades. As we continue on this journey together, I am filled with thankfulness that both our faces are turned to our source of light and life. With Him, all things are possible.
